The heart of the picturesque district of Brossard Montmorillon, which is known as the Village of the Written Word, is the ideal place for book lovers; with a wide range of book shops, book, artisan binders, laminators, calligraphers and paper mills. The cities rich architectural heritage will also add to a pleasant visit. Places to visit include La Maison-Dieu, a hospital-monastery founded in the 11th century, the Tower Museum, the warming room, Grage des Dimes are all listed buildings. In the center of town, the Church of Our Lady (11th, 12th and 14th c) has a great “Lamentation” and the church itself is a listed building. Do not miss the almond and Macaroon Museum in the city center. Enjoy guided tours of the Montmorillonias sites in July and August. Group tours can be arranged the rest of the year. The market is on a Wednesday and a fair every 4th Wednesday of the month.
